The best yet was the judgement following the annual ROAD TO SUMMER ONE CORK DUBLIN CHAMPIONSHIP LUNCH on Friday 17 April 2026 at the Clayton Hotel, Burlington Road, kindly sponsored by Dalata Hotel Group.
Now firmly established as the premier annual gathering for Cork people and Cork‑connected leaders in Dublin, the lunch brought together more than 500 decision‑makers, innovators and influencers from business, sport, culture, public affairs, education and community life. It has become an unrivalled opportunity to reconnect, strengthen relationships and expand networks in a relaxed, convivial atmosphere.
Guests enjoyed a dynamic and entertaining programme. Ben O’Connor, John Cleary, Juliet Murphy and Linda Mellerick opened proceedings with an engaging preview of the upcoming championships. They were followed by Cork legend Patrick Horgan and Cheltenham and Aintree-winning owner Sean O’Driscoll, who led the room in a rousing rendition of The Banks.
The centrepiece address came from Michael O’Flynn, CEO of the O’Flynn Group, who raised the prospect of Páirc Uí Chaoimh as a potential site for the long‑awaited Cork Event Centre. A witty and lively Q&A between An Taoiseach Micheál Martin and MC Matt Cooper kept the momentum going, before comments from Cork CEO Kevin O’Donovan led to an energetic auction expertly conducted by the ebullient Brian McCarthy.
The audience included an impressive array of leaders and sporting greats, among them Minister Jerry Buttimer, GPA CEO Tom Parsons, Tara McCarthy (Alltech), Dermot Crowley (Dalata Hotel Group), Maura Kiely (Revenue Commissioner), Declan Cullinane (Amarenco), Tom Coughlan (Urban Green), Ian Talbot (Chambers Ireland), Dr Pamela Byrne (Horse Sport Ireland), John Fenton, Conor Counihan, Eithne Duggan, Donal Óg Cusack, Noel O’Leary, Joe Deane, Johnny Crowley, Aoife Murray, Nicky English and Keith Barr, along with senior representatives from many leading Dublin firms.
Be sure not to miss out in 2027.
